As many fans of Joyride know, we started as a food truck in New York – a mobile Stumptown Coffee cafe. Being a food truck, we moved around the city every day, but in the mornings when the New York coffee faithful visited our truck from their offices, we were repeatedly asked why we weren’t parked outside of their office all the time. It was a common complaint: office coffee is simply bad coffee. But we knew there had to be a better way.
In order to carry Stumptown on our truck, Joyride’s three founders - David, Adam and Noah - all had to become professionally trained baristas. Stumptown wanted to make sure that their coffee was being brewed and served right. This attention to detail was something rare in the coffee world up to that point, and customers quickly took notice. The focus on quality also gave us the inspiration and knowledge to achieve a seemingly insurmountable task - to make coffee in offices something to enjoy.

So, with Joyride’s first experiences with Stumptown, we traded in the keys for the food truck for a delivery vehicle and started bringing this amazing coffee to offices. With a rotating blend of Stumptown coffees, we were able to bring cafe-quality standards to offices, which included identical brewers used in cafes to make the same quality of cup you’d expect from a high-end cafe. Stumptown office coffee was now a reality for New Yorkers.
To this day, we still take the extra step of ensuring that our brewers are calibrated for these high end coffees and we’ve expanded our menu to include other world-class roasters such as Blue Bottle, Counter Culture, Intellgentsia, Equator and Sightglass. We take quality seriously, because these coffees truly require a focus and attention to detail that you will never get with globally reviled coffees like K-cups, or simply commodity coffees.
