Simple, clean presentation of a single origin coffee
Boston in the winter can sometimes be a cold, dark place - but fortunately, the day I stopped by Ogawa was warm and pleasant. The location offers a perfect excuse to stroll through downtown Boston, with its location in the city’s financial district, it’s a great spot to visit on quieter weekend days.
Kyoto’s Ogawa Coffee operates a series of 24 cafes worldwide and the Boston location is their first international location, so it certainly is special. When walking into the doors, one immediately notices that this location has a refined and pleasantly understated feel to it. From the stark white and natural wood details, to the cafe’s stadium seating (a great feature in my opinion), Ogawa is a wonderful spot to sit and catch up.
On this particular weekend I was visiting with Don - a long-time friend and massive foodie - who made the recommendation to visit this spot. While at Ogawa, I found that the service was attentive and knowledgable, and the pour over menu was decently sized and well made.

Although I didn’t get the opportunity to try all of the menu options, the matcha latté specifically caught my eye, as did the avocado toasted sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds.
Just around the corner from Render Coffee, the financial district is finally getting a little love from the craft coffee movement, and that is certainly something to celebrate!
