This start-up is trying to make office coffee cool again

Joyride Coffee Distributors was founded in late 2011 by brothers David, Noah, and Adam Belanich, who started selling coffee and frozen yogurt from a Stumptown Coffee Truck in downtown Manhattan. Within a year, they brewed up a bigger idea for Joyride. 

Seeing an opportunity to revitalize typical office coffee pots and packets, which they contend leave much to be desired, the brothers sought to bring high-quality artisan coffees like Blue Bottle, Stumptown and Joe Coffee directly to the break rooms and kitchens of New York offices.

The latest trend to hit New York offices is the iced coffee keg — an idea pioneered by Queens-based Joyride Coffee Distributors.

From startups to fashion, law firms to finance, more and more New York companies are rethinking the water cooler — and are abuzz with the company’s cold-brew keg delivery, one of the few of its kind to exist.

David Belanich and his brothers Adam and Noah wanted to get into the business of selling food from a truck. Then they figured out there was an even better way to give their customers what they wanted.

There’s nothing quite like an edible job perk. The Google kids glug sparkling water to their hearts’ content. Facebook employees chow down on free fancy lunches such as lemongrass-beef rice noodle bowls and grilled chicken tikka. Here at Yahoo, we also get free lunch (there is such a thing!) but a new arrival at Twitter, Buzzfeed, Gilt, and Gawker is inspiring workplace envy—kegerators of iced coffee.

Enter Joyride. Started by three brothers in New York as the city’s first mobile coffee truck, Noah, Adam, and David Belanich served Stumptown Coffee all around town for a while before deciding to do something about their customers’ number one comment, which was that they wished they could get coffee that good at their offices.

The founders of Joyride Coffee, who happen to be three brothers, join HuffPost Live to discuss entrepreneurship, what makes a great cup of coffee, and, naturally, iced coffee kegs.

The sibling pioneers of the iced coffee kegerator are expanding their “craft on draft” operations to iced tea and kombucha. Nearly 600 offices use their Joyride machines, eliminating K-cup waste.

Joyride Coffee has made a name for itself delivering high-quality coffee beans and brewing equipment to dozens of New York City-based startups, like Twitter, Foursquare, Buzzfeed, and Gilt Groupe, just to name a few.

Adam Belanich is a co-founder of Joyride Coffee in Woodside, N.Y., which distributes premium coffee to offices. Marc Merza, Joyride’s head brewer, oversees the company’s cold-brew process.
